On January 9th, 1992 people in Bosnia and Herzegovina created the Declaration of the Proclamation of the Republic of Servian People of Bosnia and Herzegovina. I know, that's a mouthful, isn't it? The point of creating this was to separate the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Republika Srpska. At one point, they were merged together and the people were trying to secede from them.Jumping ahead to November 26th, 2015. The Constitutional Court of the country tried to have the holiday removed and declare it unconstitutional. Although, the government ignored the request. Years later, in March of 2019, the Republika Srpska Assembly created a law that began the holiday on January 9th.
