Yule Log Sun Dec 02, 2018 4:18 pm
Well it's that time of year again... bells ringing and people singing joys of holiday season. Time to get your witchy holiday spirit going! Yule or Winter Solstice lies on December 21st and it's the shortest day of the year. So close to Christmas allows you to make your holiday season a very witchy one! The sunlight is fading away and the trees are barren as winter is settling in. Darkness is more prominent as the days grow shorter and the nights longer. Yule is a time to light the fires that keep you warm and also shed light on the dark parts of yourself. Witches realize that although the sunlight is fading and there is more darkness, spring and new beginnings await. Now is the time to embrace the dark parts of you and shed light on them. Light the fires of hope in yourself and melt away the doubts that keep you frozen in fear this winter. It may make your heart burn brighter and you feel warmer inside. Remember that the strongest people shine brighter like stars when times are darkest. Stay strong and warm this winter; light the fires of your soul, burn away those obstacles that hinder your path and remember that even in darkness, spring and new beginnings filled with hope lie ahead! Blessings to you all!

Steps:
Preheat oven 375 degrees. Line a 11 x 7 x 2 inches baking pan with nonstick cooking spray or some vegetable/olive oil.
Mix cocoa powder, flour and baking powder in a bowl. Mix eggs until thick and yellow-colored in another bowl. Combine the contents of both bowls. Add water and olive oil to the mixture if it seems too dry. Mix contents thoroughly and pour batter into the pan.
Bake 14-16 minutes or when a toothpick inserted in the cake comes out clean. You can pry the cake out of the pan by running a knife around the edges where the cake sticks to the pan.
Place the cake upside-down on a clean cloth with powdered sugar so when you turn the cake up, there will be a layer of "sugar snow."
Roll the cake in the cloth to spread the powdered sugar along the cake.
Meanwhile, melt chocolate chips in a microwave from a time of 30 seconds- 1 minute. Beat the chocolate chip batter smooth. Refrigerate about an hour, stirring the chocolate chip batter for consistency.
Unroll cake carefully from the cloth. Spread chocolate chip batter evenly over the cake. Allow the cake to cool on a cooling rack. Use a fork to make lines on the cake to make it resemble a log. Allow it to cool for 15 minutes. Then transfer cake to serving platter and enjoy. Refrigerate and cover any uneaten cake pieces.
Enjoy the holiday season and hope this recipe gives you a delicious cake to fill your holiday season with warm memories and joy!
