You do not have to memorize all of it but it will be a helpful guide for you to look back throughout your journey. However, there are a few important key things that I will point out that may be helpful for you to remember. - There are two different types of magick, black and white.
- Some type of practices includes binding magick, elemental magick, dream magick, knot magick, herbal magick, and protection magick.
Starting Out- "Magic" refers to magician magic while "magick" refers to spells and witchcraft.
- "Wicca" is a religion, not a type of magick or a type of practice.
- On a pagan calendar, there are 13 months instead of 12.
- Strong witches have a really good and strong connection to mother Earth.
- You, indeed, can be a witch and not be Wiccan.
Witches: Who are We?- Some women were called Shaman. This was the earliest form of art, similar to witchcraft.
- The shamans were thought to be able to call on and connect to the gods or goddesses for assistance.
- Many religions like the Shamans and witch doctors were shunted off to the side as "pagan".
- The many gods or goddesses that they believed were reduced to one god.
- Some Shamans worshipped the Nature God, Pan.
- The term "witch" was first used by the Christians to fully describe the Shamans and their ways. The Christians used it to mean "sorceress", or "one who associated with God, but in relation to the devil".
- To be a witch is to be a person who uses the natural energy of the universe to make positive life changes.
- Witches often use the universe to recharge their energies.
- A witch can be a male or a female and any age.
- A witch is someone who truly appreciates nature and uses the energy of the universe to heal, protect, and become more self-aware.
History of Witches - Accusing/Executing- Early witches used spells to summon other spirits.
- Women were accused of doing the devil's work and were eventually executed.
- The witch madness began to commence in the mid-1400s.
- Between the years 1500 and 1660, about 80, 000 were accused and executed.
- The Salem witch trials began in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1692.
- In Virginia, you cannot wrongly accuse somebody of something, therefore, a witch by the name Grace Sherwood was tested with a water test as she was tied up and throw in the water. She tested positive as she floated on top of the water. She was jailed for 8 years.
History of Witches - Ancient History- There is no exact time or date for when witchcraft began since it dates back till the dawn of time.
- Fulda witch trials, Wurzburg witch trials, Bamburg witch trials, Torsaker trials, and Salzburg trials were the largest trials to have taken place.
- Punishments for witchcraft includes hanging, stoned to death and burned at the stake.
- Medieval witchcraft was always known as the middle ages and took place between the 5th and 15th century.
- Gerald Gardener wrote a book in the 1950s that explained the nature of Wicca while he claims to get all the information from a coven he was initiated in even though this was not proven to be true.
