Lesson 11: Casting Spells Fri Jul 26, 2019 7:03 pm
Casting Spells
Hello! All the previous lessons have been teaching you everything you need to know before you cast your spells. It goes through all the elements, moon phases, the difference between a spell and a ritual and etcetera. Now that you know all of those topics, you are just about ready to cast your first spell.
In order for you to get ready for your spellcasting event, you will need to do a few things before you begin. Of course, you will need your ingredients, instructions, and chant that the spell or ritual requires in order for you to begin the spell. Also, it would be helpful to meditate before you cast any spell. Doing this will allow you to relax and concentrate more while helping you to focus on the spell more while attempting to keep your mind clear and relaxed. This is not required unless the spell or ritual requires it, but it is or can be recommended. Numerous of spellcasters find it helpful and a way to relax the mind which allows them to focus on their spellcasting a bit better. But, again, not required unless told otherwise by the instructions of the spell or ritual.
Now that you have all the materials and you have meditated, if chose to do so, you can now go to your altar, or spellcasting environment and perform your spells. Here are some tips on how to do this.
~~As we have mentioned before, meditating is the key to success. Doing this will help you cast your spell with more focus and a more positive and determined attitude while relaxed and ready for anything.
~~As you lay out your materials and place them in their positions as instructed by the spell or ritual directions, take a deep breath before beginning to help calm yourself and prepare for what happens next.
~~Make sure you have all the correct materials. If you don't have something or can't find something, find a substitute for that material that may work just as well. For example. Don't have a cauldron? Use a bowl or pot depending on the instructions and other materials.
~~Read the instructions and chant several times before performing it. Doing this will allow yourself to become more aware of what you will be doing during the spell or ritual.
~~It is recommended that nobody is in the room with you. Many have said that if somebody is in there with you, the magick can wear off on whoever is in the room with you.
~~Pay attention to the elements. Focus on the elements that you are using in which will help you the most during your spellcasting. If you need help with finding the correct element, please refer back to previous lessons in WitchCraft Year 1.
~~Be specific with your spellcasting. This is especially important for writing your own spells. If you are wanting a specific goal, then your materials must somehow represent the goal in some way and the instructions and chant should be specific.
~~If possible, know how to reverse a spell. Of course, you don't have to create a spell to reverse every spell that you find or create. Just know how to reverse spells. At least the basics of it.
~~While following the directions, keep your mind on your directions, chants, and materials. If your mind is on something else, you aren't entirely focused on the spell and it could backfire because your concentration broke and your spell could end up not working or a different outcome then expected could occur.
~~Once you finish the spell, it is also best to rest a little bit or meditate again or cleanse yourself depending on the spell you cast. If it is a strong spell that can use a lot of your energy and power, then it may be best to meditate again or take a nap or rest on the couch.
Hopefully, these tips help you become a better spellcaster. If you have any questions, myself and our other administrator, StarDragon, are here to help.
