A Meditation Guide for Beginners
Meditation can help you prepare your mind for spiritual experiences, rituals, astral projecting, visualizations, and more. However, there are many things that people often forget or make a habit of while doing this. For example, when the instructions ask you to get comfortable and relax yourself, maybe people take that for granted. They get comfortable, and relaxed, and then they end up falling asleep. When you are asking to get into a comfortable position, that doesn't mean for you to stretch out on the bed or couch and fall asleep. Another thing is to not expect big event to occur after the mediation exercises. They will prepare you for new skills to get honed like visions, astral projecting, psychic development, and the like. However, meditating isn't a magic wand that can make things happen automatically. It may take some time and some work but it is totally worth it in the end. You just need to practice often.
So, if those are the things you shouldn't do during meditation, what can you do? Well, one thing you can do is set up your perfect environment such as your living room, bed room, outside somewhere, wherever you feel safe and relaxed and calm. We have talked about this in previous lessons, if you need more meditating tips, go back to previous lessons for reminders.
It is also recommend that you create a meditation schedule. For example, meditating in the morning for 20 minutes, as soon as you wake up, and then meditate again for 15-20 minutes before your head hits your pillow. Doing this will get your mind and body ready for the day as it begins, and it will also allow you to release your tension that the day brought onto you as your day is ending.
TIP: It is always a good ideas to stretch before and after each meditation exercise. Doing this will help you release any tension that you have in your body, especially after exercising where you have sat in the same position for a long time, it may bring cramps or tiredness in your legs, so, stretching would be a good idea to reduce the tiredness or cramping in your legs, arms, etc.
Also, as another tip, it would be a good idea, for beginners, to start off with meditating 5 minutes per day. If you get used to doing this for five minutes, bump it up to 10 and then 20 and so on. However, I would recommend you stop at 30, unless you have a whole lot of time on your hands, then by all means, keep going.
Did you know that you can meditate, not by sitting or laying down, but by standing up as well? These positions are for those who can't sit or kneel or lay down, or just can't sit still long enough to meditate for a few minutes. There are a few ways you can meditate just by standing. Here is a list:
Tai Chi
Dancing
Walking
Jogging
Painting/drawing/DIY/Crafts
Chores/cleaning
Exercising
Playing a game
Sports
Yoga
Writing
Which ever activity suits you the best, it is ideal that you pick something that you can have access to every day whenever you need it and it has to be something you can do for at least 20 minutes depending on how long you want to meditate. Meditating doesn't always have to be able closing your eyes, breathing, and remaining your exact posture. You can jam on your guitar and get lost in the music. Focusing on your guitar and finger movements can be a good way to meditate if you are a guitar player and lover.
And of course, it is different for everyone. Not everyone will meditate the same way, personally, I enjoy DIYs, some sports from time to time, writing, and exercising.

You are a good teacher. If only meditation (or at least stopping to think) was mandatory...

Some of us make it mandatory and it certainly is recommended for everyone to meditate once in a while to help feel refreshed and calm. However, you can view it as mandatory if you'd like. However, not everybody has time or the patience to meditate. It all depends on how you view it as meditating can be viewed in many different angles. Others see it as optional while others view it as mandatory, and sadly, many view it as a waste of time. I personally view it as an activity that I would recommend should fit into your daily schedule but it is also something that can be categorized as optional.
