Mothman

In Point Pleasant, West Virginia, there is a local legend of a  very large, half- moth, half-man creature. There have been many reports of sightings and it is said to have a wingspan as wide as a city street. It is so popular that the town has a Mothman Museum, a festival, parade, and a Mothman Queen beauty contest. In 1994, Mothman appeared at the parade. He turned over several floats and devoured three spectators. (Well, I made up that part.)
