Winter solstice/ Yuletide marks the shortest day of the year when the daylight hours are fewer than the night time hours. The sunlight is fading from the sky, and this is a time to prepare the fires to keep warm in the winter months ahead. Wiccans celebrate the winter solstice/ Yuletide as a time to release the dark parts within ourselves and spread warmth, and compassion to light the flaws in ourselves so that people can heal.
