Yet Another Mystery

First of all, I only write this stuff because it is true.
I don't want people thinking "What a crock." I'm not saying there is no earthly explanation, just that I can't explain it.
When you see an object, you remember seeing it, right? And if something is in plain view, you see it, right?
The electricity has been going off intermittently because of unusually cold temperatures. ("rolling blackouts" ; too much demand) I have a half-dozen different flashlights, but the only candle I have is a scented jar candle from my sister, and the wick was buried in the bottom.
I found this candle on my bathroom counter. I've never seen it, and I have been in this house (inherited from parents) for a couple of years. I don't remember buying it or ever using it. Yet, there it is. As far as I know, I have never hallucinated, and I don't think you can take a picture of a (an?) hallucination.
