Lesson 0: Tips/your path

Are you just starting your journey and don't know where to start? This is a good place to start looking. When you first start out, you will need to know what your path is and where you stand. Here is where I will discuss the types of magik and some tips to help guide you along your journey.

There are also, different types of magik. These are what other witches may call, their practices.

Some of them include:

Keep someone from doing something. Kinda like restriction.

It is just witches using candles in their spells. Depending on color, shape, size, and scent on how they want their spells to go. 

This is a very uncommon type of magik to work with. You can manipulate the energies of the elements.

For some, this might be one of the most difficult types of magik to practice. Weather magik controls the elements of the weather, thus making it rain, storm, hail, snow, get windy, sunny, etc. 

refers over to herbal magik where you can manipulate the energies of the crystals or stones.

This is a tricky one. You can manipulate people's dreams and access certain realms that can't be done physically. Kinda similar to astral projection. 

Very few witches work with this type of magik. This is where you can simply change the way somebody looks. For instance, changing the eye color, hair color, or any other appearance feature.

This is one of the most used magiks around. You can use herbs to help you cast any spell or ritual. 

Also called Cord Magik, is the act of physically tying or untying a knot using cord, string, or whatever the spellcaster desires, in order to bind spells. 

This is self-explanatory, it is used for healing those who need to be healed and have been hurt before. It can be done with herbs, crystals, or poppets.

You may recognize this type of magik by the name of 'voodoo'. These are usually made with clothes in order to active possession with a piece of DNA from the person you are trying to link to the poppet. (Poppet = puppet or doll)

This is a wonderful type of magik that can recreate in the process but can end in a bad situation as it can be very powerful.

This is a very useful type of magik. It can be used to protect you or anybody who is in harm's way. If you are going to the store or going on a hike and you want to come home in one piece, then this is the type of magik you will use so that you will be protected from all evil forces that lurk in the shadows.

If you find yourself talking to someone that tries to tell you that their way is the only way or they are trying to threaten you or harm you in any way or pressure you to do something you don't want to do, you must step away. These types of people try to go around thinking they know everything and they try to get you to believe that their way is the best way. It might be their way, but it isn't your way. Everyone has their own way of practicing and studying witchcraft. Whatever works best for you, is the way you should do it.

If you see something online that seems reasonable and fun and promising, then try it out and experiment with your own knowledge and see what works for you and what doesn't. It might inspire you to try something new and it will give you a chance to learn about your surroundings and the materials you will be working with.

This is the best advice I can give all the beginners. Listen to your heart and your gut feeling. NEVER ignore it. If you feel like something is going to happen, then it most likely will. NO doubt about it. If you feel comfortable and happy, all is fine, you don't need to worry about anything. However, if you feel uncomfortable and anxious, then something is wrong and you need to walk away from the situation. For example, if you are driving to work and you don't know which route to take, listen to your gut feeling as you approach the road where you take road A or road B. If your gut says to go down road A, do it. If you ignore it and go down the other road, you could end up in a wreck or get carjacked. Never ignore your instincts.

A book of shadows is something witches use to put all their spells and rituals in. So, if you create your very own book, it will contain all the spells and rituals that you think are important or that you like best. It can have some of your create spells in it or spells that you have tried many times and it has worked so you decide to have it written down. This will become very useful for when you need a spell to cast or a ritual to perform.

If you are just starting out as a witch, you need to start with simple spells just to get a feeling of how they are cast and how they work. If you start with complex ones, you may not know how to cast it or what to do exactly and it could backfire with horrible consequences that you don't wanna face. Once you get used to the simple ones and become an expert at them, go higher into more complicated ones and then the complex and really long ones that need more concentration.

It is recommended that you meditate every day for at least 20 minutes but it is understandable that some of us become busy as we get older and as we have more responsibilities such as love life, family, school, etc. so, meditate when you have at least 20 minutes to spare. More is great as well. This will help you to relax and focus your mind on what is important and to calm your anxiety. Some meditations will be posted in the Witch Academy schooling.
