The Dictionary Independence Day: A holiday recognized in several countries in order to celebrate their freedom from one or more other countries, which usually takes place after a certain war or horrendous event. Leap Year: This is usually added to the calendar as a leap year or leap month. It is an extra day that is added to the calendar to help keep the seasons aligned and sync correctly. Some countries/calendars have an extra day added to a month while some may have an extra month added instead. Liberation Day: Very similar to Independence Day. A Liberation Day is the celebration of a country or territory which has been freed from slavery or oppression. Lunar Calendar: uses monthly phases of the moon to keep track of the time. Lunisolar Calendar: Using a combination between the sun and the moon to keep track of time. Pioneers: A group of people who are the first to discover a specific land or area. Republic Day: A holiday that is recognized in several countries in order to celebrate the foundation of a republic. Solar Calendar: Uses the sun to keep track of the time. |
